Its name is no reason to suppose that this was once part of an ancient episcopal fief; rather, it is again safe to assume that this mill was also included in the trade-off between Count Immo and Aachen's Marienstift collegiate. For years, this mill always carried the name of its respective owner.

In the early 19th century, the mill had two sets of millstones and an oil press. The undershot water wheel allowed six hours of operation a day. In 1859, the undershot water wheel was converted into an overshot one, and from 1882 onwards, the entire milling process was supported by a steam boiler. From 1908 onwards, the mill was once more driven by water power only. An electric motor was installed in 1956, but soon decommissioned. The mill stopped milling in 1960.

The pond belonging to the mill was filled in. Locals still recall the occasion when the villagers erected a marquee on this space in 1965.

Two oversized millstones and the chimney are also reminders of the mill's glory days.
